Telecom SOL Question

Hallo,

I have a baddie from 2006 for a Verizon home phone.  The usual; moved, thought I was PIF and was collection by the time they found me.  I should have left a forwarding address.  Funny thing, V wireless knew where I was, but not V residential.  guess they don't talk much.

I paid it before I knew about PFD, and now still have that lil baddie on my report.  I picked up some chatter about a two year SOL for Telecommunications debt.  Is that state by state?  The debt was NJ but I am in CA now.  Which state applies, and does anyone here know the rules?

If it is a two year SOL, does that mean I can get it removed from my report?  Has anyone here had luck with this?

Please let me know if you have the information.

Thanks,

If you paid it, the SOL doesn't matter to my knowledge.  You can GW them and see if they will remove the TL however.

Whether or not the 2 year Telecom SOL applies is a bit of a debate.  That code was written long before cell phones existed and there is no mention of them in the code itself.

The SOL generally is determined by the state you currently reside in.

But that SOL is for suing purposes and no longer applies since the debt is paid.

I believe you may be confusing the amount of time a negative item can stay on your CR.  That is up to 7.5 years from the DoFD whether it is paid or not.

Try sending out GW letters.

Re: Telecom SOL Question

Thanks, I've GW'ed the living crap out of these guys, to no avail.  I even went as far as contacting the CEO's office of the wireless, where I still have an open acount.  The CEO assistant corresponded with me and passed it on to the residential company.  She said they are seperate.  I didn't get anywhere with the residential's CEO office.  no return calls, letters ignored, no answer to GW.  I wish it was the wireless, they were great.

I thought it might be a shot in the dark...  By the end of 2011 this will be my one and only baddie, and it shows up only on EX.  The DOFD is 2006.  On EX it shows as an installment account, with CO in the payment history for 8 flippin months.  It's PIF, of course.

At this point I am grasping at straws.  To have a little thing like this dragging down my score...  So sad.

I guess all I can do is let this be a lesson.

I know, what a waste, should have PFD.  Live and learn right?

Re: Telecom SOL Question

Well on the bright side, it's 5 years old.  Maybe if someone else has had luck with Verizon they will PM you, cross your fingers.

Re: Telecom SOL Question

I've seen where a couple of posters have had success with a GW though Planet Feedback.

It wouldn't hurt to try just make sure you don't file it as a complaint.

Re: Telecom SOL Question

Planet Feedback?  Never heard of that.  Wait...  Googling...   now I have.

You say don't make it a complaint; My choices are "Complaint, Compliment, Question, Suggestion.  Which would you suggest I use?

Re: Telecom SOL Question

If you are asking for a GW removal you certainly don't want to make it a complaint.

I would go with question or suggestion.
