I'm almost positve this is a HSBC card that I took out about 6 years ago and went into collections when I lost my job.
I'm going to ask for a DV, but how can they list themselves as the OC when they're the CA that bought the account from HBSC???
Should I send a DV letter and wait for them to validate and then send them out a PFD? If so do I ask to PFD on the $780 or less or the current balance of $1,006?
What should I do in this situation?

Can anyone offer any help?

They are saying the DOFD was 3 yrs ago. Assume for a second that SOL had not expired, I would send a DV letter if I had the $$$ set aside to PIF if I had to (to avert a judgment if being sued). I never heard of these guys before and googled them. It appears they fold rather easily and I bet a DV would get them off. If not, and if they respond, then at least you'll have more info about this. I'd wait on their response before figuring out a PFD amount.

They bought my HSBC charge off. I DV'd them and they sent me the required info. I paid them off a few months ago. They were easy to deal with.

Did you try a PFD with them?

No, I didn't have the money at the time so I settled with them for 65% of the balance and then a month later called and worked it out where I paid the difference between the settlement and the amount that was originally owed for deletion and they deleted. I would try and do a PFD, they were really easy to work with..... for a collection agency. ![]()

That's great news Surfone! I'm going to try and see about a PFD.
