I notice that TransUnion asks for employer and salary information as part of their online dispute process. The field does state that providing that information is optional, but I wonder how many people provide it thinking it's required. Worse, if disputing through the mail, TransUnion asks people to complete a form that also asks for employer/salary information, but the form doesn't state that providing the information is optional.
If you are disputing through the mail, why would you even use a form?
A CRA must conduct a reinvestigation if the consumer provides the necessary information set forth in FCRA 611(a).
Neither name of employer nor salary is a requirment.
Are they declining any disputes that lack that info?
Sounds like another in the long list of reasons to use a direct dispute rather than deal with CRA BS.
