I financed a car with Auto One in 2001. I wrecked my car and it was totaled out in 12/04. When I went in and did the paperwork for the car the first time I had gap insurance. The car lot told me to come back in again because they got my note a little cheaper. I signed the paperwork again but didn't realize I had not signed the gap insurance until I wrecked my car. Needless to say the insurance company only gave me what my car was worth and not what I owed. I was left with a 4000.00 balance after my car was paid off. When I was trying to purchase another vehicle, every car agency wanted to bring the balance forward and my car note was going to be about 600.00 and I couldn't afford that being a single parent. I got a car in my mother's name and I pay it on time every month but it doesn't help me. I still have this balance on my account and I would like to clear it up. What should I do first? The collections is currently with transouth financial.
