A year ago I decided to subscribe to quarterly monitoring through this site. I haven't done anything heroic over the last year, but I did manage to have no late payments, get a credit limit increase on one card, and pay off a car four years early. One year ago my TU Fico was 666--ominous, I know. It's now at 708, so a 42 point increase. Here's to the next year and hopefully another 42 points!
Congrats!
Great work!
Thanks, folks. The process is long and slow, particularly because I have a history of late payments that won't fall off for another 3.5 years. They are valid late payments, so I'm not disputing them. I haven't tried any goodwill letters or anything, mostly because I don't want the hassle. I hope my score will increase enough in the near future to qualify for a good interest rate on my next car loan. Otherwise, I have no intention of asking to borrow any money. That said, I want my score to go as high as possible because I see it as a measure of financial responsibility.
Thanks for all the contributions from the community here. Your stories inspire and motivate me.
Shockingly, I was able to get all Collections and late payments removed over this 9 month process. I only have this white elephant (5 year old repo) between me and 800 (so close to 700) FICO.
I'm going to start disputing DoFD within hopes of early removal as soon as SOL expires, which SHOULD be 2 months ago as that should be my DoFD and not the Jan through May DoFD listed across the 3 CRs - So one or all of them are wrong, because none of them match each other.
Grats on your progress!
Many congrats to you. P.S. A goodwill letter never hurts, but it's up to you. Sometimes you can win.

Happy for you. That's a nice increase, and let's hope for 50+ this year.
