Trying to Collect on a Settled Debt

Hi All!

I need some advice. I have been in the process of cleaning up my CR. Back in March, I did a PFD with Allied Interstate for an old SPRINT PCS account. They agreed. I have their letter in front of me that says "SPRINT PCS has agreed to accept one single payment of XXX.XX to settle this account" I sent in payment via money order. Here it is November and I get a collections letter trying to collect on the leftover balance! I settled this account! I have all the documents in front of me (I started saving everything). Can this new collection agency legally still try to collect on this account? I am in the process of writing them back basically telling them piss off. I was going to send copies of the settlement letter & money order I sent. Am I doing the correct thing here?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
