Trying to remove an inaccurate Sales Tax lien

In 2010 my company decided to open a location in El Paso Texas. We filed and received a Sales tax use number but never opened the store. We never sold anything there but our accounting dept. failed to file non sales reports. After 3 quarters of non filing the state of Texas filed a tax lien in the amount of $1222.01 against me the owner of the company. I called the Texas Comptrollers office and found out what really happened and filed the non sales reports for the 9 months in question. I had to pay $53 in penalty's and $20 to have the lien removed and after I did that the case is closed. But Instead of correcting the very inaccurate tax lien in the amount of $1222.01 ( the estimated tax amount) they reported that the lien was paid in full and I have to wait 7 years for it to all off. I disputed the lien to EQ which is the only CRA that is reporting and included all the documentation including a printout from the Texas sales tax department who by the way agreed that the lien should be removed. So after waiting 20 plus days I get an answer from EQ stating that Texas is reporting that the lien is accurate. I called EQ yesterday and talked to a CSR who looked at the dispute and saw the documentation I sent and agreed that the Lien information is is in fact not accurate and should be deleted. The CSR also confirmed this with his supervisor but said that if The Travis County Court which is who is reporting the lien as accurate says the lien is accurate their is nothing I can do. He said that I need to get the Travis county court to see my documentation and change the record or the lien will stay on for 7 years. Can somebody give me an idea on how to handle this. This just does not seem right.

Under FCRA 603(d), consumer reports are restricted to factors related to personal, family, of household purposes.

The FCRA does not extend to business credit.

If the information was related to a business, I would contend that it is not reportable to your personal credit report, regardless of the accuracy of the information.

Re: Trying to remove an inaccurate Sales Tax lien

So what should I try first, a dispute to the CRA, to the county clerk who keeps reporting it accurate or some other type of complaint? And thank you for you insight which I appreciate very much.

Re: Trying to remove an inaccurate Sales Tax lien

I would send a direct dispute to the furnisher, asserting inaccuracy of their reporting of business related information to your personal credit report.
