Thank you to everyone who contributed great suggestions and success stories to this thread. The information is really helping me out. I have a FPB unpaid account on all three of my reports. They show the account was opened in 2008. The three bureas definaitely are reporting inconsistanctly. I'd like early removal of this as it's one of two baddies left and due to come off later this year anyway (I think). Can I follow the advice of this thread if the account is unpaid?

Absolutley!!!! Mine was unpaid when I did this. When I filed with BBB and CFPB, I received a favorable response from both in just over a week. BBB being the fastest. Just make sure you itemize each discrepancy in detail to show inconsistency in reporting. Use the letter provided as a template. Blessings.
