I had a medical collection. It was first reported as late with the original doctor In October, 2010 and was sent to a collection agency in January, 2011. I paid it in May of 2011, so it's now 3.5 years old.
I've read the HIPAA process...and I believe I'm out of luck with trying that since I paid the collection agency and didn't bypass them and pay the OC...is that correct?
Secondly, how much of an impact is this really having on my score at this point? I know it will stay on my report for another 3.5 years, but my scores are all between 605 and 614, and my major issue is a tax lien and a couple of chargeoffs. is it worth trying to find some other way to get it deleted, assuming I can't do the HIPAA process?

All I can tell you is contact the creator of the HIPAA Process for help. We cannot discuss it on this board.
Since you've already paid the collection, why don't you send GW letters to the CA and see if they can grant the removal?

Will a collection agency do that? I thought only the original creditor would....what's in it for a CA to do a goodwill?
Research HIPPA, nothing to do with who you paid.

I believe some peeps had success getting CAs to remove medical collections via GW, you'll never know until you try!
