Equifax is reporting incorrect information on my credit report, however I've been unable to dispute it online. When I submit the required information online--name, address, SS#, etc.--, I get the error message "The information you provided does not match our records so we are unable to process your request online. Please FAX your dispute and a copy of your driver's license to 888 826-0549".
I'm looking at my recent Equifax report, however, and see that the information does match their records, so I do not understand why I'm receiving the error message. Is anyone familiar with this problem and how to fix it?
Did you get that message AFTER you answered specific security questions? Usually you'll enter your basic info (name address SSN years at current address blah blah) then they'll ask for more specific qualifying questions (car loan you may have had, approximate age of your mom, car registered to your name...etc) Jsut make sure that is all in order.
Mantis, I did get the error message after answering specific security questions. I am sure I answered those correctly. I did this twice, and both times I received the error message. I have tried a few times since then, however I now no longer even get to the specific security questions. I enter the basic information and immediately get the error message.

Put in the confirmation number of the report you are looking at.
Thank you! That worked.

Heehee, I'm good.
It also happens to me periodically. I was able to get in by using a previous confirmation number. Thanks!
