My friend went through some cancer treatment within this last year and was keeping up with her medical bills. One slipped through the cracks and she was unaware of it. It is $1800. She wasn't even contacted by the CA (she doesn't answer phone calls if she doesn't recognize number). Anyway, she just recieved court papers LEFT ON HER CARPORT and she is being sued by the Collection Agency. The agency is called Audit Adjustment. Is anyone familiar with this type of procedure? I read on here so many people with collections that were several years old and this one couldn't have been more than 6 months or so.
Sorry to hear about your friends illness and what this CA is trying to put your friend thru.
You would have to check your friends state laws, to see if your friend was properly served.
But leaving the papers in the carport blows my mind.
Ask your friend check the summons to see if anyone signed it for them.
