Unpaid Medical bill less than one year old sent to collections

I have an unpaid medical bill from the beginning of the year which has been sent to a collections agency, the Medical Recovery Specialists. It's for less than 200 and would have paid it much earlier had I ever received anything in the mail or a message on my phone, but the medical center never gave me that indication. Now, today, I received this notice that the debt is now sent to this agency and they ask for me to repay it. The date of notice they sent me is marked as August 7, are these things instantly reported on your credit score on average or do these agencies give you a little bit of a break for a few weeks. Since I know I'm going to have to call them and make absolutely sure it is not, and if it is, it would be taken off, would recording the conversation be enough, or should I tell them that the debt won't be paid until I get a written statement saying that it will not be on my report? Any advice appreciated.

Hi Kevinception and welcome to the forums!!! First step I would do is call the OC and see if they can accept payment and recall the account from the CA. If they can go that route, the CA would need to delete their trade line and the OC is paid. If they won't take payment I would offer a PFD if they don't accept then I would come back and just PIF then send GW letters asking for removal. The medical center never sent you a billing statement?  Did the CA ever send you a notice??
