So I call up to try to settle my 5 year old debt. Lady was so nasty! on a 206.00 debt she offered 140. PFTTT
I said 100.00, She said if you can do 100.00 you can do 105. NO I wanted 100.00 so I could pay her evenly with a card with just that balance on it so they could not attempt more.
Think I am better off sending a letter?
This may not be the answer you want to hear but my stradegy throughout my journey was to not argue with the nasty ones "pick my battles"
If you owed $206
They would accept $105
and you want to pay $100
I would have paid the $105 and been done with it - $5 is not worth the aggravation etc.
There may be much more important battles for which you should save yourself for

I agree pay the $5, because they could have said pay in full. I had two accounts from First Premier on my credit reports, and it was figuring into my utilization. Once I paid them my score really increased, and even though they said they would not do a PFD they were deleted.
