If you are planning on applying for something in the next year and a half, are looking for a new job that will pull your credit, or require a government secuity clearance, you might need to pay it in order to qualify. Paying it will not change the date it is removed.

I would call the OC ask them to recall/cancel the collection and pay them in full directly if this is successful the CA is gone from your reports.
