So i owed verizon 400 or so dollars that i didn't pay. They sent it to a collection agency and i settled for about half the amount with them. This was about 3-4 years ago. I checked my report on freecrdit report last week and the verizon account was removed with a nice score bump from 663 to 696 but the CA account was still there. I wasn't sure if i should call the CA to see if they would remove also. I decided not too because i didn't want them to call verizon and have their account account put back on.
I checked my report again today and the CA account was removed also with another score bump to 721. So happy right now. Does anyone know why this would have happened and should I worry about it being put back on? It was still fairly new, 4yrs. I did call in november of 2012 to see about paying for a delete. The rep said no. I don't know why it would be removed.
I'm a little annoyed with my self also. I went on a small app spree last month after I got my util down to 5% and i was declined by citi and chase both citing the collection and 5 public records, state tax liens, for the reason for decline. I was approved for barclay card. Should I call their reps with and ask them to review my apps again or are the tax liens too much to overcome?
Congrats on the removals. Paid deletions tend to stay deleted, that's a good thing. Are the tax liens paid? If so is there a process your state has for removal?
