I'm new here. I've been just soaking in all the helpful information on the pages for the last couple of weeks. As I learned, I applied it.
I have 2 baddies on my credit reports. I had more but they either fell off and I've had several things removed in the past month.
One of the baddies is a collection account from 2004. I sent a PFD because I knew that it was mine and it was excepted. They wanted me to make a payment over the phone but because of what I've learned from you all, I declined and insisted that they follow the instructions in my letter. They agreed and I should have their letter any day now.
My other is several lates from a car loan I paid off last year. It's kinda corky but in early 2003 we were given a reduction in our car payment from $385 to $75 a month due to my DH being out of work for 7 months. Long story short...the payment never returned to the $385 so I continued to make the $75 payments for over 4 years. In Jan08, I got a call that I needed to start making the regular payment and then they put 1/30 day & 4/180 day lates on my reports. I've had several loans with them even a car now and I've never been late.
I called my bank on Friday and got a really sweet CustSvc lady who got a contact in the dept of a person who could help me. I sent him a GW letter on Monday by fax and got a call late yesterday afternoon that he contacted the CRA's and is having the lates removed from my files.
I just wanted to say thanks so much from all you. I really couldn't have done this without your credit wisdom.
My scores now are:
TU: 696
EQ: 663
EX vantage: 731
Can't wait to see how all this will effect my scores. We are planning to buy a home between Fall2010-Summer2011. We still need to pay of some debts before we're ready to buy.

I just received a Score Watch alert that my EQ score went up 39 points from 663 to 702...Yes!
I was going to pull my Score Power report to see why but I'm going to wait until the 1 CA I have is removed. I did receive the letter from the CA the same day I made this original post. I'm going to call them tomorrow and pay it and then I pull my 2nd report.
This feels too good. I think I'm officially addicted!
