WFNNB-Express...What's next?

OK I need some advice with this. So WFNNB-Express made an error which I called them on and they are fixing (I got a letter dated 9/15/10 that they are). Basically all the lates after 06/08 (10 of the 90 days, 1 30 and 1 60) will be removed because I paid the account in full in June of 2008. For some crazy reason it stayed in their recovery department and managed to get sold to Asset. Long story short, after many letters and phone calls I finally got a hold of a CSR at WFNNB-Express to confirm the account was paid in full to them 6/25/08 and they sent me a letter. Asset has deleted their associated collection account and Express hasn't updated yet but I called recovery to confirm and they said they have sent it to the various credit bureaus so it should update soon.

After this updates, the account will still show 3 late payments and is closed. Is my best bet to try to GW them or do you think it might be possible to re-open the account. I am planning on purchasing a new car soon and want to try to get anything negative off my report. Only a few things left and once this is off...it's a few late payments (including these) that are close to 3 years old.

It won't hurt to try a GW since the TL is relatively young. If you don't have any baddies on any TL after 6/2008, then you could possibly see a score increase too.

Thanks! Yeah, I figure I will give it a shot. That is the youngest baddie I have left on my report. The other is 2 lates on another card in 2007. I just hope it gives me a little bump so I will have a chance a decent car loan!

Re: WFNNB-Express...What's next?

I'm still dealing with getting this corrected but I MAY have got it resolved. I talked to a CSR in recovery on Friday and they escalated my case to a supervisor for investigation. They told me to call back today to see what they could find. Well now, my account is not in the system. The CSR I spoke to today, said sold accounts remain in their system so he thinks they are just deleting the trade line! This is great news. I will update if/when it updates on my credit report.
