I see here on the boards often that you can get your free FICO with a WalMart card. I applied and received a denial letter- and the score (from T.U. Consumer Relations) was 198 points lower than the score myFICO gives me. So I guess my question is- if in the future I decide to apply again, is the score received by those who actually have the card different than the one utilized for a credit pull? Having a TU score on myFICO of 611, the last thing I expected to see on my denial was a 413!!
:-O! This is the first time Ive heard of something like this. I'm interested to see what ppl know.....
I, too, just recently encountered the same thing with Walmart. THEIR scoring system showed me at 394 when my FICO shows TU at 641!
My question is...the people who are getting approved, what is their Walmart score?
Walmart uses the FICO 08, which is a newer scoring model than the FICO 04 that most lenders use. The TU model you pull from here is a TU98 model.
The difference it seems from most peoples TU 98 vs TU 04 seems to be +/- 20 points. I guess for some people the difference from TU 98 here and Walmart 08 seems to be vast.
The score they sent you in the mail is not a Fico score. If you noticed on the paper they gave you the highest score only goes up to around 620 or so.

That's right! I did see that....

the monthly score they provide you is a FICO -- the score they rate you on for approval is proprietory.. different scores, different scenerios..

I want to say that propriety score is used throughout GE products
+1 Scott and beb. GE uses their own system. No idea what it is, could be they take your Fico, then throw in their calculations and algorithms. But don't get discouraged, keep working on getting your CR healthy! Also did you try to recon them?
I didn't try recon yet- I was panicked about what my actual true score was. But- now that all the confusion has settled on this one, I think I should give it a shot.
