I also sent a neatly handwritten letter as opposed to a copy and paste form letter like you see all over the internet for my last goodwill attempt. To me the handwritten approach seemed more personal and I felt that the initial appearance would distinguish it from the piles of form letters they most likely get on a daily basis. I have not got a response yet but the funny thing is that about 4 days after mailing this I got an activity alert on this closed account that has not been active for 4 years. Waiting on the bureaus to update to see if the effort did accomplish much.
