Weirdness - Refund check on settled CO? - Trap?

Okay here's the deal.

I have a settled CO for an AMEx Business Card.  The DoFD was early 2006 and it is scheduled to fall off of my report next March.  So I received a check in the mail for approx $40 saying that they had neglected to send me a statement in February of 2007 and this check was for the interest charges and fees reflected on that statement.

Weird.  So my first thought was that they are trying to re-start the clock somehow.  I have no intention of cashing this check, but if I did - would it re-start the clock?

Has anyone else had anything like this happen to them?

thanks

I don't see any sign of restarting the clock for CRTP.  Plus the bill was settled meaning there is no more payment due to them.  It must have been an accounting error, one they've been caught on by someone else and are trying to rectify before a class action suit or something of that sort is filed.
