Well, I am slowly but surely trying to rebuild my credit after a BK discharged in 02/2008. My FICO's are not as bad as I would have expected...TU=610, EXP=638, EQ=619 (1/22/09). They have been holding around that range for quite awhile. In August 2008 I got a Cap 1 Credit card. My max is now $750 woo hoo! I recently started college again and I have student loans that are being reported, deferred pmt not due yet. Is that going to help my score? I have been paying all my bills on time for about 1 year now. I got a new car lease back in April thru GMAC too. I got turned down for a Target card back in Sept. 08.
Anyway, my question is what can I do now to boost my score? Especially with the credit crunch the way that it is.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you!!
Keep a low util on your CC.
Keep all accounts current.
Do you have any negatives apart from the accounts IIB?
Thanks for replying.
Well, would old accounts before the BK count as negatives? Like an old car lease that showed as pastdue 30-90 days late Actually I think pretty much most of what is on my report is IIB. No collections. I have been paying on time religiously, since the BK. The CC util is maybe a problem, the balance is $0 right now, but I have a $140 monthly pmt applied to it for 4 more months (new computer purchase). I just told my friend that means I cannot use my CC til that is paid off. But the limit on the CC is only $750, I know that is about 20% util which is not the best, it s/b 9-10% or less right? Well, I think I am doing ok. Could be better with the CC, but I do usually pay the balance off each month so far.
Thanks again for your input. I read alot on the board by don't usually post too much.
