Hello everyone,
I'm new here and I am in serious need of some advice. I pulled my Experian CR because I wanted to compare some of the mail I've received from Collection Agencies with what is showing on my report.
I have one collection with Harvard Collection Services for an old Sprint bill (showing on report), one from Midland Funding that is reported as "paid closed" that I sent a GW letter to recently, Capital One shows as "Charge Off" and the Collection Agency handling it "Northland Group" isn't listed on the report. Chase is listed on the report as "charge off", but I just got a letter from ARS National Services informing me that they're handling the debt (but they don't show on Credit Report?).
I've sent PFD letters to Harvard and Northland. Harvard replied with verificaiton of the debt, but said nothing about my PFD offer? I have not heard anything from Northland Group.
What am I doing wrong? What do I need to try?
I also have letters from a Collection Agency for a hospital bill, however it is not showing on my Credit Report?
I would appreciate any help/advice y'all could offer. I'm really trying to get my credit repaired as soon as possible.
Mike
Pay the hospital bill before it makes its way to your credit report. Contact the hospital and try to pay them. If you can't afford it, ask them what your options are. Be sure they recall it from the collection agency, too.
As for the PFD response... that wasn't a response. Send another letter with your offer and explain that they did not answer your question in the first letter.

Are Cap One and Chase reporting balances due? if so, I'd try contacting them directly. I would also send a new PFD offer to Harvard, since that isn't a response.
Thank you! The medical collections is from Kevin B Wilson Law Offices.
I have bills from the hospital quoting $1470.99, but the letter from the law offices states $1608.73.
Can they do that?
Hello! Thanks for the reply.
Capital One:
Recent Balance: $556 as of 8/2012
It also reads: Charged off, $556 written off, $556 past due as of 8/2012
Chase:
Recent Balance: $496 as of 11/2013
Charged off. $496 written off, $496 past due as of 11/2103
Something strange about Chase is that the current CA I was aware of was LTD Financial. I sent them a PFD, they said Chase has control of the account. Then Chase sent me a letter saying LTD had control of the account. Then I got the letter a few days later for ARS trying to collect. What is the deal with that?!

What's even more confusing is that ARS usually manages COs for Cap One. Heheh. Since the OCs are still reporting balances, they haven't sold off the debts to the CAs (they just adminster them). I'd contact the Cap One EO to resolve that one and they can direct the CA to contact you. Cap One doesn't do PFDs, though.
I have no experience with Chase, but I'd try to contact them again or search here to see if anyone has more experience with Chase.
One thing to consider before you take any steps, esp on the Cap One CO. How old are the COs? Do you know the DOFD on these? Are the COs impacting your UTIL much?
Bump!

One falls off in May 2018, the other October 2018. The only other credit card I have is a secured one I just got for $300.
So these were accounts that went delinquent late 2010 or early 2011. You're most likely still within SOL, so be prepared to PIF, if you decided to settle on the COs. Capital One won't do a PFD offer, but you may stil be able to settle.
