I'm just starting my credit repair journey with a goal of purchasing a home.
I actually begain in December with 542 (Experian) score.
I hadn't used credti very much since a layoff in 2007 and went through a separation/divorce. Now my life is stable. I got a secured WF card and here I am.
The question I have is, how do I know what my scores actually are? I feel like I am getting all these different numbers and I don't know which is accurate.
Experian says I have 589 Ex/574 TU/576 Eq but credit.com says my Experian is 638. What gives?
The scores on Experian are FICO 8 scores.... The scores on Credit.com are more than likely Vantage 3 scores. You can check to see what version it is on their site. The Vantage scores are not widely used. The FICO scores are the the ones you want to use.
Credit.com provides two scores based off your Experian credit report. They are:
1) Experian National Equivalency score (range 360 to 840) - this one is listed 1st.
2) Vantage Score 3.0 (range 300 to 850). This one is hidden until you click on the expanded view arrow.
As mentioned above, the scores you are getting direct from Experian should be Fico 8
