What gives

When I started this site I had over 10k in credit card debt which may not sound like a lot to some but for a college kid working a part time job was a lot. Next month I will be paying off my last credit card payment. how I did it was call and ask for a payment arrangement and most did work with me. I did have one sue me in court for 600 bucks and did get a garnishment on that card which I just got paid off. I'm never late on my car payment and I pay my student loans on time and yet my score isn't showing any improvement. I paid two off 6 months ago and my score didn't change. I do have 13 inquiries but they are all from 2010 and they are still showing up. Any suggestions ?

Re: What gives

Unfortunately just paying the old debts will not change the fact that they are negatives, they will continue to report as negatives, just with a $0 balance.  You will need to send GWs out to those negatives that were paid off.  Also, once the judgement is paid, contact the court house where it was filed and ask for their process of getting it vacated or set aside.

Re: What gives

Do you have any revolving credit accounts?  Usually paying off charge offs (Just guessing that's what they were) you may at least get some help from UTIL, but if you dont have a revolver you won't even get that.  A couple of secured credit cards might give you some boost.
