What if????

What if you called amex up to find out how much you owe them for a charge off that occurred 8 years ago, and has been off of your reports for 1 year and 9 months.

Will it reset the statue of limitations and then they will report it?

Re: What if????

The exclusion of a charge-off is based only on the DOFD.

Once more than 7 years plus 180 days has expired from the DOFD, the charge-off must be excluded from any credit report issued by the CRA.

The separste issue of statute of limitations on bringing civil action is defined under state statutes,.

I know of no state statute that has SOL reset provisions unless at least a firm offer to pay or an actual payment has been made.

Regardless, SOL provisions have no affect on credit report exclusion.

Re: What if????

Agree, they should not be able to report it. It's good if this is a debt that fell off, and you're still trying to take care of it. Do you have a mortgage app or something similar coming up, or is this just because?
