I just always see people say that if a collection is not "recent" then it is prolly not worth risking to try and get it removed because it is not hurting the score that much. I just wanted to ask what the time table is when considering new vs. old?
These are my most recent collections from all 3 CB:
EQ- 07/2008 is medical
TU- 06/2008 From apartment lease
EX- 10/2008 is medical
I think that "recent" is subjective - your most recent 2 years' history weighs more heavily than the next 2 years, etc....
And I disagree, you should try to get any collection removed you can, you'll just see the most benefit out of removing the recent ones. You should be careful, though, in trying to deal with any collection within the statute of limitations that you don't have the money to pay in full. You could get yourself sued.
Thanks. Amother question for you. Is it better to wait for sol to run out to try and settle for a pfd? It would seem that if you try and offer this before the sol runs out then they would have no reason to ever accept because the ball is in there court so to speak. ( they can still sue for full amount owed)
The incentive for them to agree to PFD for partial payment increases as time goes on - especially after SoL expires and then even more so when you get close to the end of CRTP (credit reporting time period).
