I received 4K back in taxes and I have a decent amount of CC debt. With this I could completely wipe out 5 cards or I could get 6 cards below 30%. Of these 6 three would be wiped out by the first option. What say you?

I'd wipe out 5 with the highest interest then I'd apply all previous monthly payments to the remaining card. In addition, don't charge any amount that you can't pay off (i.e. money in checking account). Congrats on the windfall use it to your best advantage.
Do you plan to app for new credit in the near future, and thus have a primary goal of score improvement, or do you want to save $$?
No apps planned, just not sure the best way. I think I'm gonna just completely wipe out some. Then use those payments for other higher bills.

How about posting each card with amounts, credit limits and interest rates and we should be able to help you better? Also, do you have any baddies on your credit report?
