I fell into temptation and obtained the "high fee" credit card, First Savings Credit Card, to help with rebuilding my credit. I have never made any late payments, never went over the limit, etc. Upon opening the account, I was told that credit limits would be given after 6 months of a great payment history, after submitting a credit limit increase, they told me that I was denied. I truly don't care for the card (I only have a $350 limit anyway), and I want to close the card. What are the best ways to close the account? Pay it off in full then close or close it, then pay it off. Help! This is my first time closing out an account.
I would pay it off then close, just so you dont have the possibility of it reporting in between the two and having a balance on a card with a 0 CL. But other than that it shouldnt matter.
