Well, since the response you received says they have an electronic record from the previous CA, apparently still showing an unpaid balance, then dig up your receipts of your payment of this old debt, photocopy them and try another GW including the photocopies of your paid receipt. Also, call and ask the CRAs to provide you with the DOFD (Date of FIRST Delinquency) on this account. If the CRAs tell you that this old account has a DOFD from back in 2005 -- then, this account should be excluded from your CRs sometime this year!
