What should I do

I recently received a letter from a debt collector regarding a medical bill. It states I have 45 days to contact them before they report it on my credit report. It's ALREADY on their!!!! What do I do?

Re: What should I do

They apparently sent the wrong form letter....

What to do depends upon whether you agree that the debt is valid, or you first want validation.

Then, if valid, do you wish to begin payment negotiations?

Some other factors that will affect your next step::

1. How old is the debt since its first delinquency?

2. Do you have CR deletion as a requrment for payment?

3. Can/will you pay the full debt, or negotiate for a settlement for less?

Re: What should I do

I know that it's mine from an ER visit. I had no insurance. I would like to do a settlement if possible cause I can't afford to pay the full amount. I know from dealing with them before they will delete if paid in full.

Re: What should I do

You might consider offering to enter into a payment plan if they agree to deletion once the debt is satisfied.....
