What to do with a 3.5 y/o Collection Baddie

I have a collections baddie on my report, 3.5 years old, for $135 from a dentist. What is the best way to get this off my credit report? I understand that simply paying it doesn't remove it... and I don't want to make the same mistakes I did when I paid off charged off CC's for less than full amount. Is it worth it to my score to pey them off or will it make things worse by changing DoLA ?

thanks!

First, find out who owns the debt.

Contact the dentist office and ask if they still own the debt, if so see if they will accept payment and call back the CA.

If the CA owns the debt send a PFD letter
