I have 2 GW letters to creditors (Comenity and Synchrony banks respectively) and 2 written disputes to credit agencies (Equifax and Experian...I couldn't dispute online because their identity questions are inaccurate!) Which do I send regular mail and which to I send with return receipt. I don't want any of these to get "lost in the mail" obviously, but I also want to follow the correct ettiquette.
Send with receipt if it is something that has a legal period for your filing that may later need documenttion.
Disputes have a 30-day period for completion of reinvestigation that is based on date of the dispute.
DV requests have a timeliness requirment of 30 days from receipt of dunning notice.
It is thus prudent to docuement your sending of those communications.
Good-will lettters have no required response, and thus no need to establish date of their actual receipt.
Return receipt is for peace of mind, not legal value.
