Where do I start? Advice on bringing up my score.

I posted something yesterday about my foreclosure among other things that screwed my credit up so I won't get into that,I did get a helpful response to a lawsuit filed against me. Now what do I do next. There's just so much information on how to bring your credit scores up and a lot of it is very conflicting. Do I send a validation letter to the creditors, some I do recognize, some I don't. I have 2 collection company's both trying to collect on a debt that I paid off  in a settlement back in 2011 to HSBC Bank. Now they're on my credit report. I just would like to know from someone who has been able to raise their scores the steps they took and where they started. I made a mistake in 2010 and paid off $10,000.00 in debt from my credit reports and settled with all of them and now know that was a huge mistake. So please, someone tell me how to go about all of this. I don't even want to apply for credit in fear that I will get denied and have a hard inquiry on my credit report, but I have no open credit lines on my credit report and I know I need something. My husband and I did away with credit cards thinking that would be smart but it was foolish. We don't even have a car payment,we swore off payments as well. We buy our cars outright every few years after saving up and selling our current vehicle. So please let me know, where do I go from here?

Hi and welcome to the MyFICO community . Yes it is the best but has so much information it can leave you confused.

A few thoughts: Are you comfortable listing out your debts with info such as Name of Creditor; Amount of Debt, Status of Debt, Date of Falloff

Also, do you have all three of your credit reports? If so, what are your scores and are some of the debts on some of the reports but not all?

Additionally, do you have any debt that you are currently utilizing (credit cards, loans, mortgage) and if so, what is the status of those- how much do you have, how much is being utilized and are they in good standing or not

Finally, what are your goals? Buying a home, rebuilding, getting "prime" cards?

Some of this will help to get you more information

Best to you!!

The first date is the fall off date. Ad Astra recovery has listed the same account twice. B&P has served me a summons to which I answered Friday because I am disputing two of the accounts. NCO financial who is collecting for Nationwide is questionable as I have no recollection of the debt. I switched insurance companies and have never received a final bill from them. Capital one was a voluntary repo. I have received 2 notices from credit bureau central for only one amount listed above. LVNV Funding is trying to collect for HSBC even though I settled 4/2011.
Allied has paid in settlement on transunion report but seriously past due on Equifax. Thanks so much for your time. I appreciate it.

Re: Where do I start? Advice on bringing up my score.

Hello.

I would start with the smallest collection and start paying like that. Sending in DVs to verify what the debt is and exactly what you owe. Then I would ask for pay for deletes. Especially for your medical deletions because I know that a lot of collection agencies with them delete upon payment. You'd just have to check and see. It'll be a long journey but well worth it in the end.
