Where should I start rebuilding my credit?

Hi, Im new to this forum and to the credit rebuilding procedure. Im 23 and have a really bad credit history, I finally decided to start rebuilding my credit to purchase a home in the near future. I need advice on where to start and what I need to do, so far I have only sent out 5 DV and 2 PFD letters. I just pulled my credit report from this website and this is what is reported. Current scores TransUnion 550 - Equifax 623. Also I have an auto loan thats not reporting to TransUnion and its affecting my score, is there a way to have them add the account?

Re: Where should I start rebuilding my credit?

To start, I would pull my free reports from https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp  You can get one from each CRA per year.

These reports are directly from the CRAs and have more updated, detailed information.

You also need to know the SOL in the state you currently reside in.

Sending out a DV or PFD while still within SOL could cause a lawsuit if you cannot pay in full.

Re: Where should I start rebuilding my credit?

Im currently signed up with USAA CreditCheck monitoring Premium from Experian so I have all 3 bureaus credit reports. I live in Texas so I think the SOL is 4 years. What should I start out with. I just sent a PFD payment to Security Credit Services so hopefully they'll delete their collection account soon. Now I need help choosing which accounts to pay.

Re: Where should I start rebuilding my credit?

Are you able to pay all of them in full, or do you have a set budget and you need to choose them one at a time?

Re: Where should I start rebuilding my credit?

Im currently on a budget, and I can probably save $200-$400 a month or unless I can get a loan to pay off the high amount collections. If I was able to get a loan to PFD AFNI $2,659.00 or the highest MIDLAND CREDIT MANAGEMENT $6,348.00. What amount should I offer first.

Re: Where should I start rebuilding my credit?

Do not send a DV or a PFD to any account within SoL unless you can pay it in full.

Re: Where should I start rebuilding my credit?

How do I find out if they are still under the SOL? I know AFNI is from a Sprint account that went into collections about 6 years ago. Its when Sprint dint offer free long distance calling Smiley Sad so my friend ran the bill up.

I will add that the reason for this is that they could follow up a DV or PFD with a lawsuit if the SOL hasn't expired.

You can do a search to find the SOL for your state.

From a BK years ago to:
9/09 EX pulled by lender 802
3/10 EQ- 800
6/10 TU -772

You can do the same thing with hard work

Re: Where should I start rebuilding my credit?

Im in Texas which the SOL is 4 years. Afni is about 5-6 years old and Midland is from 2006. So right now I should start with the small amount ones correct to be on the safe side since I have the money to PIF about 1 account each month I send a PFD.
