With apartments if they sent it to collections, they have to validate the debt which means you can call and asked for validation.  That collection agency should have a copy of lease agreement with signature from both parties and the itemize deduction sheet which will show security deposits, cleanup fees, etc..  If not  then you can dispute.  Looks like your SOL is 6 years for written contracts.  Dont do nothing else till you get a response.

 Regardless if one is on deferment, forebearance or ICR, the interest racks up on student loans.  Can you get on the ICR payment plan?

Oh I thought the apartment was in Georgia based off of the collection agency.  So SOL is 4 years.  So you are under Texas Property Codes Chapter 92.  Just get a debt validation response and go from there.
