Maybe this is a silly question, but I wondered how the "drop off" works? Is it an automatic thing with numbers in a big computer that once it gets to that magic date the CRA deletes it? Or does the CA or OC have to ask them to stop reporting whern the time comes?
And say in my case, being in NY where the drop off time for paid collections is 5 years not 7. We have an unpaid collection due to drop off in April 2010 - if it was paid it would have already dropped off. If we go ahead and pay it now, is the drop off automatic or does someone need to be asked to make it happen?
