Mercantile just me a letter stating that my account with American General Finance has been listed with their office for collection. The letter also states that they will accept a payment for 50% of the balance as a payment in full. Does this mean that American General Finance still own the account?
I also got a letter from Midland Credit Management, now this letter states that the account had been purchased from Citibank and that any contact with Citibank should not continue. They offered me a settlement offer of 40% of the balance.
Neither of the two CA's said that would delete my TL in I pay. So I will send them a counter offer telling them to delete my TL and I will send the payment in. I will also ask for it writing.
With that being said does Mercantile or American General still own the account?
