I have been working over the past year to rebuild my credit started with a score of 472 one year ago, paid of defulted student loans and a few other items. Got a car loan through Chase after putting down about 1/3 on it and now my credit scores are equifax 660, experian 616 not sure about TU as I have not pulled this one. Was just wondering if there was anything else I should be doing to get them up higher as a mortgage is my main goal in the next year or so. Thanks!!
Add to your mix of credit. A small store card (Walmart for the free TU08 score) or a secured credit card (BoA I've heard is good because they will eventually upgrade your secured card to an unsecured card) will be perfect.
+1 you might want to consider some revolving now. Time to build some new credit.
Best options at this point for me to add revolving credit? Not sure what to add or apply for at this point I don't want any inquiry dings to top it all off.
I have been looking into a secured card for sometime now. I just am afraid to get an inquiry ding on top of everything else. I am paralyzed with fear that anything I do will bring it back down now.
Your scores won't go up if you don't build good credit. Do you belong to a CU or use a local bank? You could try for a secured card through them. If not then maybe BOA or Cap1.
