Re: Would someone be able to help me make sense of this - desperately need 10 point for mortgage app

We just paid off all our current/active cards - except for a small $35 balance for reporting purpoes to help boost score.  I just noticed that the bankruptcy is only reporting on 2 reports.  That's odd?

So you really think it would help boost our score to pay off the Cap One?  I could try to settle for less?  The VA Loan guy told me it woud hurt my score because it would report with a newer date of last activity date!!  I'm in shock hearing this now???

Re: Would someone be able to help me make sense of this - desperately need 10 point for mortgage app

I'm completely dumb-founded why the bankruptcy fell off the Equifax report.  I just looked through the whole report and it's just...gone.  I double checked the dates on the other reports and it clearly says "scheduled to fall off Oct 2015.".  This is weird.

I am completely not complaining though!!!!!!!!!!!!! Smiley Surprised

Re: Would someone be able to help me make sense of this - desperately need 10 point for mortgage app

Are there any other ones I should try to settle besides capital one? I'm asking because its the largest one so it might eat up all my money right now. So if I pay this cap one, the damage I would get from last activity being updated would be offset by there showing a zero balance?? This could mean so much to us point wise!!

Thank you soooo much for your advice!!

If I had that, I'd pay off the CapOne and First Premier ASAP. CapOne alone is over 200% util. CapOne recently updated last month so there is no worry there with any score impact due to newer dates. Likewise, FP recently updated within the past few months and there's no worries there either. You could offer a settlement, but be prepared to pay 100% if time is at a premium.

On the CAs, send DVs. If they verify and you agree, then send a PFD. Likewise be prepared to have 100% on standby. Your lender will likely require you to pay them off, PFD or not.

Also give yourself some time on the process.
