I currently have 2 credit cards - Cap 1 Secured ($750 cl) and Merrick Bank (700 cl). I just paid off the balance to the Merrick Card and plan to only allow the Cap 1 to report a balance since it was opened longer. I only plan on using the Merrick Card for gas which I can pay off right away, so it always has a $0 balance on reporting date. In October, it's getting a CLI of another 700. My intent is to only have the Cap 1 report a balance, but would have $0 due every month impact the CLI, since it requires 6 months of on time payments? And if they report a $0 balance for so many months, even if I use the card, would they close the card?
