Have you received anything in writing from them yet, or have you sent a DV letter?

Is it a legitimate debt?

If so, then a PFD might be the next step.

Whether to send a DV would depend on the legitimacy of the debt, and thus their liklihood of verification.

If you send a tinely DV, any PFD negotiations would be precluded until they provide verifcation, and you would remain in limbo until they chose to verify.

If it's a legit debt, I think PFD is the way to go.  If they don't go for PFD, then pay and send GW letters.  I settled with LVNV a few years back.   Last year, I had success with GW removal, although it took a few letters to get it removed.
