First check your state SOL statute and see if it has a reset provision based on payments or firm offers to pay.
PFDs are negotiation offers. Personal negotiations may well speed the process. Just dont admit to the debt. Just say you are offering to pay, not as admission of the debt, but rather simply to resolve the matter.

Why cant you admit it your debt if you are going to pay it anyway?
My understanding is admitting to the debt could reset the SOL in some states.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong
