bad check

Just got a judgement letter on a bad check called the company and they said it was 55 I owe them 25 for the check and 30 for NSF charge but the judgement was for 140

Most likely court fees, the cost of having you served, etc.

That's so sad that they would take up the court's time with such a insignificant amount.

$55 isn't an insignificant amount from a business standpoint, if you really think about it. And honestly, not to be Debbie Downer or lower the boom on the OP, but sending a worthless check for court prosecution is usually the bery last ditch effort of the payee. There are usually many opportunities to make the check good before it gets that far.
