charge off question

I have a repo on my credit that was charged off in 2007 for approx 8k. Last month the amount on my credit report went up tp 10K. Is this legal? After they charge off a bad debt and get tax credit for it can they keep adding to the total owed?
Equi:
4/9/10 = 521
8/3/10 = 564
9/16/10 = 578
11/7/10 = 612
11/24/10 = 641

Re: charge off question

If I am not mistaking, this is perfectly legal (Vets, correct me if I'm wrong). Just because the debt was charged off, doesn't exempt you from having to pay the loan.
the case for credit card debts. Interest and late fees are accuring on this debt, even though it has been charged off. A chargeof is only for reporting and tax purposes, not to let you off the hook. Hope this helps and good luck with settling this matter.

Re: charge off question

Thanks.  I really am not trying to get off the hook.  But it hardlly seems fair that they got to charge off one amount and received credit for it but they can keep charging me more than that.

I appreciate your information Smiley Surprised)
