definitiion of DFD (Date of First Delinquency)

if i have a late payment say march 2006 and then an on time payment in april 2006 and then it's late may 2006 and afterwards, is the "date of first delinquency" (DFD) march 2006 (the first date it was EVER late) or is it may 2006 because it's the first date of CONTINUOUS delinquency)

please see example below

mar 2006 late

april 2006 on time

may 2006 and in future late

is the DFD march 2006 or its it may 2006???

thank you in advance for any help.

Re: definitiion of DFD (Date of First Delinquency)

So you were late in March then paid in April then started to default in May again.  If that is the case the date of first deliquency would be in May because you had made a payment in April.

+1  It is the date that led to the CO.  You will see 30 60 90 120 150 180 (maybe several more, then) CO

That first 30 is the DOFD

Re: definitiion of DFD (Date of First Delinquency)

The first time you go into default (don’t pay at least the min payment on time), that sets your date of first default.  That DOFD remains in your CR until you do two things.  You then make a payment that is sufficient to bring the account back into paid, good standing, and also you then later miss another monthly payment.  Then your DOFD is reset.  And so on, and so on. It is the first date in the most recent chain of monthly delinquencies that preceded any CO or CA.

If you are first untimely or dont pay at least the min amt due, you are in default, and that sets your DOFD.  Simply making a timely payment the next month is not enough to bring the account into paid, good standing.  The payment amount must also be sufficient to cover all overdue and min payment amounts required in your billling statement.
