do secure cards actuallty help?

Absolutely.  While FICO may weigh certain types of revolving credit differently, such as bank cards vs. store cards, they are still revolving lines of credit, and count in your showing of effective use of revolving credit.

The distinction with secured cards is that you dont really have a discretionary CL to draw against.  Thus, they are not a solid indicator of your use of discretionary credit.

But yes, they are revolving credit.

 There are many options out there for you but i would start with your own bank or credit union.

If they don't indicate secured, they help your credit just as much as similar unsecured line as you can't tell any difference. Ideal secured card looks like: No af. Path to graduation ideally without changing account number. Rewards. Ability to add to limit via more deposits. Low apr. hmm not sure what else
