does discover pre-approve work

so i went to the screen when you put all your info and they gave me a offer for a discover card my question is  is this really secured i dont want to waste a HP

It's never a 100% approval! but with Discover you stand a really good chance.

I wouldn't apply unless you think with your score and other factors you have a good chance...they will give you offers even if you put a fake name...

No it doesn't. You can type in John Doe with a 1234 for ssn and you'll always get the same response,
