Leave it alone until it drops off 7-7.5 years from the DoFD.. Then you can settle it for much less especially if its past states SOL too.

The DoFD has to be reported to the CRA, if you have hard copies you should find the DoFD listed by the OC, its commonly known as the 30 day late that leads to the account being COed. SOL means statute of limitations and is used on this board to refer to your states laws that govern how long a creditor has to sue you to recover their money.
