free reports after credit denial

I hadn't apped for anything lately, but I am getting to app for a walmart card.

Last time I appd' they gave a long list of reasons for why I was denied, when really only 2 of them applied to me.

I've since put some distance between me and some lates and had the only open collection on my report removed. All the other stuff blantantly didn't apply to me (like too short of AAOA when my AAOA is over 5 years)

I still fear I may get denied due to a major derog (late) on an account that is current, but still open. If I get denied, how difficult is it obtain a copy of my report for free? I'm working on old reports and don't really feel like buying the report just to app for a walmart card. Last time I was denied I wasn't given any info on HOW to obtain it just that they used info from my TU report.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Granted If I get the card then I won't be able to get my free TU report but then I would get their monthly report/scores anyways so thats a moot point.

They have a questionaire on the site that asks if you've been turned down for credit and by whom.  Just fill in the info and it goes right through.
