mortgage current for one year, credit impact?

We had some problems with paying our mortgage in the past.  This April will mark one year of on time payments and we are wanting to buy a bigger home. Would we expect to see a jump in credit or will it stay the same?

Typically I saw small increases as lates ages past 12  months and 24 months. Personally I would wait until lates are all 24 months or older.
